EVENT #05: May 30, 2026

ALL WOMEN'S EVENT  - SUSQUEHANNA RIVERLANDS STATE PARK

Join KTA, Trish Turo (@CoachTrish), and park staff on Saturday, May 30 for a Trail Work Day!
Are you new to trail maintenance or want to meet like-minded people?! Try out a half day of giving back to trails. No experience necessary--we offer "on the trail" training, and provide all tools and gloves, etc. This event is intended to provide a safe, inclusive space for new or veteran trail volunteers who are female-identifying.

What to expect:
We will be working on a steep section of trail near the Susquehanna River. KTA will scout the trail with park personnel prior to the event and provide more details to those who sign up. It is VERY rocky and the uphill sides are eroding onto the trail. It is an ankle twister. If you are unsteady on your feet, this may not be the event for you. Trail work may include rebenching the trail and removing rocks. More info provided after scouting.

Start: We will meet at 9:30 am near the “cottage”, the little house to the left of the farm house (follow KTA signs from the park entrance).

The day will begin with a welcome, introductions, and safety talk, etc., prior to heading to the trail. We will have tools available but please feel free to bring your favorite trail tools.  We'll probably work until around 12-1 PM.

>About the park, from their website: "The 1,044-acre Susquehanna Riverlands State Park lies in York County, along the confluence of Codorus Creek with the beautiful Susquehanna River. It is nearly six miles northwest of Wrightsville, Pennsylvania. The park features multiple rock outcrop vistas over the river and nearly a mile of riverfront along the Susquehanna with 1.5 miles along Codorus Creek.
An approximately 2.75-mile-long portion of the Mason-Dixon Trail traverses the park. This 200-mile-long trail connects the Appalachian Trail at Whiskey Springs in Cumberland County with Chadds Ford along the Brandywine River."

This is one of the newest state parks, established in 2022. If you want to stay after we're done, be sure to check out the Overlook Trail, for phenomenal views of the river and beyond.

SIGN UP FOR #5 All Women's Trail Care @SURI, May 30, HERE!
(If you do not receive an email confirmation, your sign-up did not go through -- please go directly to the form through this link.)

**NEW FOR 2026: Please also sign-up for an account with DCNR on the new Conservation Volunteer website here. Once you do that, you are covered under DCNR’s workmen’s compensation umbrella when working on state forest or park land. Also, you can now earn points towards free camping! Check out their FAQs page. Once you submit your sign-up here, and create a DCNR CV account, Jenn will add you to the “Trail Care Team” for that private event in DCNR’s new CV system (and you’ll receive an email from DCNR confirming you’ve been added to the team/event). Then, after the event, Jenn will be inputting all your Trail Care volunteer hours; you won’t have to worry about that. Thanks in advance!
