KTA Webinar: Introducing the South Central Pennsylvania Accessible Adventure Guidebook

Join us on May 19th at 6:00 PM for a special webinar celebrating the release of the South Central Accessible Adventure Guidebook, a brand-new resource designed to excite and inspire outdoor adventurers of all abilities.
Hear directly from the authors—Brook Lenker of Keystone Trails Association, Janetta Green of JW Consulting, and John Naylor. The guidebook highlights 12 outstanding trails across Pennsylvania's south central region, offering detailed information to help individuals who use mobility aids or have limited mobility plan safe, enjoyable outings. Registration is free, but required.

Stories of Restoration Sunset Hike
June 5, 2026 | Lancaster County 
Hike through Susquehannock State Park as the day comes to a close and hear stories of land and river restoration that have benefited people of the Commonwealth. Our hike ends at Hawk Point Overlook with a brief overview of eagle biology and bald eagle restoration on the lower Susquehanna River. This event is co-hosted by DCNR and is part of Lancaster Conservancy's Water Week. Registration is full; join the waitlist here.

America250 PA Cumberland County Appalachian Trail Hikes
June 6 & 27, 2026 | Cumberland County
Lace up your boots and step foot on the most iconic trail in the United States, the Appalachian Trail. Learn about the history of the trail and what it's like to walk all the way from George to Maine. Hikes differ in distance, and both are led by KTA members who have thru-hiked the entire Appalachian Trail.

KTA Webinar: Pennsylvania's New DCNR Conservation Volunteer Website

Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has launched a new Conservation Volunteer website. Join Matt Crosbie, Non-motorized Recreation Specialist at the Bureau of Forestry, for an overview of the new platform. Whether you are an individual looking to answer a specific volunteer need or a hiking and trail club seeking to coordinate your members' efforts, this webinar will walk you through how to make the most of this valuable new resource.

KTA Webinar: The Underground Railroad Along the Mason-Dixon Line

The Mason-Dixon line, once drawn to settle a border dispute, became one of the most charged dividing lines in American history, separating bondage from freedom and risk from refuge. Join Randy Harris, Research & Community Outreach specialist at The Stevens & Smith Center at LancasterHistory, as he traces the origins and reach of the Underground Railroad from Philadelphia to farming communities west of the city. Wilderness First Aid Certification 
July 27-28, 2026 | Stone Valley Recreation Area, Centre County
Learn general medical concepts and basic life support skills so you're ready for a mishap in the outdoors. This training is targeted to the outdoor enthusiast on day trips or short adventures. This training can be paired with Leave No Trace on July 29-30.

Leave No Trace Level One Instructor Certification 
July 29-30, 2026
| Stone Valley Recreation Area, Centre County
Delve into low-impact skills for outdoor recreation and explore your outdoor ethics. This training is geared toward hiking enthusiasts, trail maintainers, outdoor educators, and those working to preserve public and private lands for recreational use. This training can be paired with Wilderness First Aid on July 27-28.

Keystone Trails Association International Hiking Trip Fundraiser: Trekking on the International Appalachian Trail Ulster-Ireland
August 9-20, 2026 | International Appalachian Trail​
Explore the northern reaches of the Republic of Ireland as well as the Causeway Coast section of Northern Ireland on this KTA international hiking trip fundraiser. The International Appalachian Trail Ulster-Ireland begins in the west in West Donegal in the Republic of Ireland and stretches for 279 miles into Northern Ireland, finishing in Larne in County Antrim. We will explore several sections of trail in the Republic of Ireland near Donegal before transitioning to Northern Ireland to hike several days on the Causeway Coast section of trail, which includes the Giant's Causeway.

Join KTA in the Susquehanna Riverlands Conservation Landscape for a weekend of guided hikes, water activities, ecological restoration events, biking, and more!

Spring Hiking Weekend 2027
April 29 - May 2, 2027 | Erie 
Hike the shores of Lake Erie, get on the water, tour a vineyard, bike Presque Isle, climb a lighthouse, attend a birding program, or take a guided ecology walk!  All of these are in the works for 2027. On April 29, and the morning of April 30, there will be hands-on stewardship opportunities for those looking to arrive early. The traditional Spring Hiking Weekend will take place mid-day April 30 through May 2. Activity and meal plan registration will open late 2026/early 2027. Lodging is at Erie Bayfront Hotel, right on the water.  KTA has secured discounted rooms; book now through April 2, 2027, to get the reduced rate.​
