Slackpack nearly half the trail with KTA members Shawna Burger and Terry Marshall, a father-daughter hiking duo with many years and miles of hiking experience. This pair has completed more than half of the Appalachian Trail and are excited to share this experience with you.
The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail (LHHT) is one of the finest natural trails in Pennsylvania. The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail extends for 70.1 miles from Conemaugh Gorge near Johnstown to the rugged and picturesque Youghiogheny River Gorge at Ohiopyle State Park.
The registration fee includes three days of guided hikes, shuttles to and from the lodging and trail, two breakfasts, two lunches and lodging at Ohiopyle Suites. A full "what to bring" list will be provided to registrants. Information about parking and meeting locations and times will be provided to registered guests prior to our slackpack!

Friday, October 4th
9:30 am Optional tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater Lunch on your own KTA shuttle to trailhead 1:00 pm Ease into the weekend with a 7.6 mile section from Route 653 to the Maple Summit parking area. Elevation change is minimal in this section and it will give you a chance to get your trail legs. KTA shuttle to Ohiopyle Dinner on your own - group dinner reservation will be available! Saturday, October 5th Breakfast at Bittersweet Cafe Pick up bagged lunch - Bittersweet Cafe KTA shuttle to trailhead Hike the top of the slopes at Seven Springs Mountain Resort on this 11.8 mile section from Route 31 to Route 653. The views will not disappoint as we reach the highest point on the LHHT at 2,961 feet. KTA shuttle to Ohiopyle Dinner on your own - group dinner reservation will be available! Sunday, October 6th Breakfast prepared by KTA staff Check out of lodging Pick up bagged lunch from Falls Market Cafe KTA shuttle to trailhead Enjoy amazing views of the Youghiogheny River as we hike from the Maple Summit parking area into Ohiopyle. This section totals 11.2 miles and involves more descending then ascending when done in the southbound direction. We will finish in Ohiopyle back at your vehicles |
