2025 Spring Hiking Weekend
Stewardship Project on Old Loggers Trail
Raystown Lake - Friday April 25, 2025
General Info:
Thank you in advance for signing up to participate! I scouted the trail with Raystown Ranger Jairus in March, and have a diverse group of projects.

It's great to see some KTA Trail Care veterans on the list, as well as some assumed newbies. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you all!

*****PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT WILL MEET AT 1:00 PM, WHICH IS EARLIER THAN OTHER EVENTS!*****

We'll be meeting at the Lake Raystown Resort Conference Center (3101 Chipmunk Crossing, Entriken PA 16638 / 40.29984, -78.17792)
and carpooling to the Bakers Hollow trailhead (about 25 minutes drive west; there are portapotties here). Please come prepared for trail work:
  • Bring daypack with water and snacks
  • Not your best hiking clothes - you may get dirty or painty

KTA will provide:
  • All trail tools, equipment, paint
  • All PPE (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). You're welcome to bring your own favorite gloves.
  • Complimentary T-shirt
  • Trail work instruction and demonstration

The below crews are not written in stone, we may decide to start at a different trailhead, or split crews in other numbers, etc., and plans may shift due to weather.
Please take a few moments and sign up here!

  • Painter: paints new 2' wide by 6" long neat blazes on prepped tree
  • Prepper: scrapes/brushes old blaze, spray paint old blaze if larger than 2x6"
  • Loppers: trim branches in line of sight of blazes, and in other locations if time
    • all are welcome to try out other tasks, and switch off if tired, etc.
  • Keep an eye on the time and your location (identify someone in your crew that can track your location) and walk out to arrive at trailhead by 4:30
