Grand Opening of the
​Sideling Hill Trailhead 

Registration for this event is now closed.

Join Keystone Trails Association for an afternoon hike in the Buchanan State Forest on Saturday, September 20, 2025. 


We invite you to join KTA hike leader, Tony Barr, for a hike into the Buchanan State Forest from the newly constructed Trailhead at the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Sideling Hill Service Plaza.

​12:00 pm- Sideling Hill Trailhead Grand Opening hosted by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission 

2:00 pm - KTA HIKE - 6.0 miles (estimated) please register below 
Meet by the newly constructed trailhead in the rear of the Sideling Hill Pennsylvania Turnpike Service Plaza. The hike will begin and end with a 1.5-mile roadwalk on a service road before reaching the trail system. Registrants will be emailed more information closer to the event date. 

Hike Leader Tony Barr is the volunteer Trail Manager for the Everett Region of the Mid State Trail (MST) and has worked on the trail for over 15 years. Tony is also a Patroller with the Blue Knob Ski Patrol having just finished his 15th year volunteering for them. with BKSP. Professionally, Tony is in the process of finishing his 28th year teaching mathematics at Everett High School. When he is not teaching, patrolling, running a brushcutter, or being a Dad to his three kids, Tony enjoys hiking, mountain biking, trail running, backpacking, skiing (xc and alpine), and whitewater rafting..
