Allegheny National Forest

August 25-27, 2023
Ludlow, PA

It’s time to leave the city behind and get back to nature.

This part of Pennsylvania is trail central and the trails take you to gorgeous vistas, rock outcroppings, open hardwoods, old growth forests, and stands of hemlock.  Hikes with waterfalls or cascades and abundant wildlife are everywhere around you.

Each day you can choose from a selection of hikes and excursions led by knowledgeable and experienced local hike leaders. Bagged lunches are provided each morning to take on the trail. After the hikes conclude, retire to Olmstead Manor to enjoy dinner and camaraderie in the dining room with your fellow hikers, followed by speaker presentations and a campfire.

During our weekend hiking adventure we’ll be staying at Olmstead Manor and Groves Lodge in the heart of the National Forest.

Groves Lodge is a modern, fully accessible facility with overnight and central dining accommodations. The Lodge was built on the slope of Olmsted's spring-lined hill in 1976, with the forest as a backdrop and a view over the valley.

Hotel style bedrooms and bathrooms are designed for the modern comfort and convenience of guests, while the family-style dining area encourages fellowship and conversation. The cut stone construction of the building and its informal lounge with inviting fireplace gives the Lodge an atmosphere of comfortable, rustic charm.

The recently constructed annex portion of the lodge is designed for accessibility and convenience with six bedrooms and fully accessible bathrooms, including a wheelchair friendly shower.
In addition, the annex boasts two spacious meeting areas for guest use.

The Manor offers unique rooms with rich history. The Manor House is the original home of the George and Iva Olmsted family. The construction of the manor was completed in 1917. The Tudor-style mansion retains the original architectural details, the unique charm of the individual bedrooms, and an air of faded elegance throughout.

A spacious living room with a fireplace and grand piano is the perfect place for friends to join together in laughter and fellowship. The Manor also boasts an elegant dining room and a kitchen for guests who prefer to prepare and serve their own food.  The kitchen is furnished with a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker.  The house also contains an original two-lane bowling alley on the attic level.

Pricing includes 2 nights stay and 6 meals, along with your hikes/activities. Rates are per person.

Single Occupancy: $285
Double Occupancy: $255
