 Barcelona & Andorra
Pyrenees Mountains Trip

KEYSTONE TRAILS ASSOCIATION HIKING TRIP
Barcelona & Andorra (Pyrenees Mountains)
September 25 - October 5, 2022

Limited Availability - Contact KTA to join the waiting list

Barcelona and Andorra…two great walking/hiking destinations in one trip! Barcelona, on the Mediterranean Sea, is one of Europe’s most vibrant cities, a world center of art, culture and sport and a wonderful city for walking. Andorra, nestled in the nearby Pyrenees Mountains between Spain and France, is one of the world’s smallest countries but packed with excellent hiking opportunities.

First we travel through the Spanish countryside to picturesque Andorra. Once a mountain haven for smuggling between France and Spain, Andorra is now a premier hiking destination. From our hotel in the village of Soldeu, the next five days find us hiking in mountain splendor on nearby trails. These mountain hikes are in the valleys and lower slopes of surrounding mountains and average 7 to 10 miles per day. The hikes are rated “moderate” and there are options for shorter hikes most days.

In Barcelona, we’ll explore the narrow cobblestone streets of the medieval Barri Gòtic, full of plazas, shops, cafes and street performers. On our walks (4-6 miles each day), we’ll visit the world-renowned La Sagrada Familia, the masterpiece cathedral designed by Antoni Gaudí.  You have the option to visit other masterworks of Gaudí including Palau Guëll and Parc Guëll, the renowned and fanciful city park that overlooks the city. Another highlight is the Picasso Museum containing more than 4000 of his works. The great pedestrian boulevard, La Rambla, is near our hotel and connects us to many other interesting sections of the city including the Mediterranean beaches.

The trip organizer and guide is Paul Shaw, former KTA Executive Director and Board President, and former owner of Treks & Trails International. Paul has led 40+ hiking trips to Europe, North and South America including several trips to Barcelona and the Pyrenees. Previous KTA trips led by Paul include Ireland, Iceland, Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Newfoundland. Paul is assisted by Brook LEnker, Executive Director of KTA.

This is a fundraising hiking trip with all net proceeds benefiting Keystone Trails Association.
