The Horse Shoe Trail helped Alicia find strength and confidence
"The last decade has been tough. From losing my husband of 14 years (cancer) to finding love again only to lose it once more. I felt lost and broken. I began hiking the Horse Shoe Trail in Lebanon County where I live little by little until I got the opportunity to section hike it end to end. I went from knowing practically nothing to being self-sufficient on the trail: preparing and cooking homemade meals, filtering water, and pitching tents. I was able to complete the trail end to end in November 2022 and it helped me find my strength and confidence again. It was my happy place. It was my start and sparked a love for hiking and made me feel strong again. The Horse Shoe Trail was just the beginning!" - Alicia |
