5 days of hiking, 76 miles, 1 awesome trail
Join us for the first part of a two weekend trek to hike the Horse-Shoe Trail!
Don’t worry about the plans, the maps, your breakfasts or lunches, where you’re going to stay, or your heavy pack. The KTA Slackpack Program takes care of all that. Hike leaders will lead a carpool to the trailhead in the morning and back to base at the end of the day, and lead or sweep the group along the trail. Lodging is provided, where breakfasts and lunches are provided for the group, dinner is on your own – as expensive or inexpensive as you’d like. All you have to carry is a day-pack! In 5 days of hiking, you’ll have checked off half of the HST off your list, made friends, and maybe even shaved off some waistline.
This premier long-distance trail through the Piedmont and Great Valley Region of southeastern Pennsylvania was constructed for hikers and horseback riders. The Horse-Shoe Trail slackpack begins at Valley Forge National Park, outside of Philadelphia, and runs westward toward the Appalachian Trail. This is part one of a two-part slackpack for those wishing to complete the entire trail. Part two will be scheduled at a later date.
The Horse-Shoe Trail is marked with yellow blazes; side trails to points of interest are blazed white.
