Thomas Schmick
He was born and grew up in Harrisburg, PA. He resides in Montoursville, PA with his wife, Brenda, and their two adult children. He attended Penn State and earned a B.S. in Biology in 1971 and a Masters of Environmental Pollution Control in 1972. This was at the inception of the environmental movement. After graduation he was employed by the PA Department of Environmental Protection as a Water Quality Specialist. He worked for the Pennsylvania DEP for 35 years in various positions, predominantly in the Williamsport Regional Office. He retired in 1997 as Environmental Program Manager of the Public Water Supply Program. He has been a member of KTA for approximately five years. He thoroughly enjoys the organization and its events. He has completed hiking many long distance trails in PA. The list includes: 1. Mid State Trail - received the #11 end-to-end certificate in 2017 for hiking the entire trail. 2. Quehanna Trail 3. Black Forest Trail 4. West Rim Trail 5. Loyalsock Trail 6. Susquehannock Trail 7. Old Loggers Path 8. The Green Monster Trail He has also taken hiking trips to Colorado, Montana, Maine and Arizona.
